It's now been a few weeks since Gaz and Steph brought 15 years of involvement with The Maze to an end, seeing the closure of this great little music venue on Mansfield Road. Along with The Doghouse (closed in 2018), The Running Horse (closed in 2016, although reopened under new owners), and also The Lofthouse (closed 2017), The Maze was a venue where I learned a lot about music photography. And while Nottingham still has a great music scene, it is sad to see yet another small venue lost to the city.

Yes, the lighting was pretty awful from a photography point of view (and I would have been up there more often if the lighting had been better), but it was a fun venue to shoot in nevertheless. And tight margins mean that air conditioning was always going to be more of a priority than some new lights.
